Just bought hptuners. When I read the PCM, and try to license it, it gives me an error VIN OS mismatch. The car is a 2000 fbody, with a 2002 OS installed. How do I get the licensing to work?

By having the pcm flashed with a valid vin/os pair & then reread with our software.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Im having the same problem. Since I bought this software to do just that, are we now in a catch 22?
Software was bought to flash firmware. But I cant read, change VIN, and write with a correct VIN/OS pair?
What is the work around?

So here is what I want to do.
I want to read the PCM currently running, change the vin to a supported one (I have the GM VIN), and flash to use.
What is the process. Ive tried to work this in the software and I cant seem.
Are you saying I have to send my PCM to another programmer with a better software package that does not have this restriction so they can put a supported VIN on my PCM?

Tech 2 from any gm dealership can flash in a valid file with a valid vin.

Bill,
Why don't you just tell him to read the file off the PCM, drop in a valid VIN and then re-flash the PCM?
I've never had a problem reading any file. Once it's read, you update the VIN and you are good to go and get to keep your calibration intact. The TechII is going to wipe it out.
Then he would loose his custom tune.
Do what Frost has said.
If he can't read the controller at all. Then the only alternative I can think of is to get it read by the other LS1 based software that doesn't care about VIN's and change the VIN with that so he can use it with HPTuners.
Any reason you can't change the VIN with the "VIN changer" part of HPT? Not sure if you need to read it first though.

not sure if i'm having the same issues, but i've got two cars here now giving me invalid vin/os error. i'd love to just change the vin, but as soon as it's done reading and the error comes up-flashing is disabled........
Save the [Read] file. Open the file, update the VIN and then save it with the new VIN. Now flash it.
Im having the same problem. Any one know exactly what to do? I was thinking of finding a stock .bin file and downloading it on my computer and licenseing it that way then just try and load that stock file on to the pcm. That should work right?
