which pids to log for torque?

Has anyone confirmed the right pid to log that coresponds to the "base shift pressure vs torque vs gear" table. I'm logging "delivered engine torque" but am only getting 250 ft/lb at wot 6000rpm, this is only 1/3 of the way along the table which goes to 640. (what units are these in, and they don't change in metric) This 1/3 of the way along the table also corresponds to 2000rpm torque value which is my current problem, I want to firm up WOT shifts only.

I believe you want the delivered torque - trans PID
which may be lurking in the transmission section (?).
It's even more of a hoax than the engine torque PID
as it also tries to model the converter torque multiplication
(might be semi-close for a stock motor, stock converter
but forget a modded motor, high-STR, high-stall being
    any kind of accurate).

But in terms of knowing what the PCM is using for a
basis, I think this is your PID.

Re: which pids to log for torque?

Jimmy thanks for your tip. After logging, it appears that engine and trans torque PID's are the same thing. On my stock A4 with bolt ons, WOT @ 6000rpm is the same torque output (240 ft/lbs) as the 2600 rpm 1-2 shift. So getting a nice smooth low 28% TPS 1-2 shift is at odds with a fast, tyre chirping, WOT, 100% TPS, 1-2 shift. This is because they are both at the same torque value. Is there any way around this?

You should see near the same value when the converter is
locked, or low-slip. At lower RPM when you're multiplying
torque through the converter they should diverge with the
trans torque up to maybe 1.8X (stock) or more (high-STR).
If they are dead identical then there's something funny going
    on (or lockup).

My initial low speed logs show identical values for engine and trans torque. I can see what you're saying, i.e. the converter multiplies torque at low speeds, but i'll have to check this out with some more extensive loging tomorrow, as it did,nt show up on my first 2min log. Even if the logs are as we expect them i.e. diverging, this still leaves me with a soft low rpm shift combined with a soft high rpm shift, or vise versa. Maybe we need a shift table with line pressure vs RPM.
