Knock Retard question
I have my KR set to take out 4 degrees during PE. I see it taking out .5 occasionally. Is this false KR?
Thanks in advance!

.5* knock retard is nothing to worry about. All engines will have some knock retard.

I'm not worried about it, I am just wondering why it only takes out .5 if it is sensing a knock, when I have it set to take out 4.
Thanks again!

ttt...
Thanks again for any more input.

Do you have it set up as 4 degrees max retard?

Yes. The "Maximum Knock Retard" chart is set to 4 degrees everywhere. This is why I was wondering if it senses knock at all, why it only take out .5, instead of the entire 4.

Because that's the max it will take. Basically it'll take out timing up to 4 degrees.

I understand that 4 is the max it will take out, I was just wondering why it only took out .5.
Is .5 based on the level of knock that was sensed?
Thanks Rob.

yes, .5 KR is calculated based on what the KR sensors detect to be going on... there are a couple tables that will determine how much and how quickly it does this..

Thanks again. I found the table that controls the amount of timing that is subtracted in proportion to each knock detected.
