i have a friend with a 03 f150 with a build date of like may-june time frame of 03. he wants to tune his truck but hpt only goes back to 04. can he swap in a 04 f150 ecu? if not is there a good tune software that can? i would rather use hpt if possible.

In his case, no way, we are talking EEC vs powerPC and throttle cable vs fly by wire. The differences are massive. Everything from the guage cluster to cruise control would be effected.

Heck, you can't even plug the '04 Truck ECM (3 connectors) into the '03 Truck ECM connector (1 connector). (At least, the computers up here are CAN based as of 2004)...Originally Posted by 4.8t
