Thread: 5.7 Hemi is struggling after new cam

    Yes Gulf Coast Auto.... the log you ran there in your last post with exhaust cam angle desired at 128 and exhaust cam center position at 127, would most likely suggest that your timing is retarded by one tooth... But this only holds true if you logged these values above, and are running a cam phaser lockout in your build. And while I do understand that with each tooth that timing is off, it actually should be presenting this condition with a change of just over 2 degrees for every tooth its off... in each of the three occasions Ive come across this exact scenario, and it was later proven that timing was off by one tooth, the difference showing between either "desired" and "actual", or "desired" and "center position", was exactly 1 degree in all three instances. Why this has been the case, I haven't quite figured out yet.

    The reason it shows up as 1 degree, is because of latency, it’s rounding down to the last degree it sees.

    well i got to say when the c121c code hasnt come in yet, it runs great.

    but that code will put it in limp mode or something and wont let it shift right.

    Have you been able to put a scanner on this yet? There could be something wrong with the abs module

    I did.
    I actually changed the abs module, same code came back.

    That leaves a faulty pcm, ...... for sh$ts and giggles, try Engine>torque model > friction loss table., reducing the whole table small percentage , after clearing the code.
