2016 Charger "Validate Checksum Failed GPEC2A" while trying to read ECM/TCM

I've already submitting a support ticket with HPT, but really need to get started on this car...

I was told that this vehicle has been previously tuned by a local shop, and the PCM was unlocked through HPT/tuned with HPT. I get this validate checksum failed error when I try to download the file from the PCM, and the file that downloads is blank. It shows another error that says something like "you will be unable to save or modify this file, submit this file with a vcm suite infolog to hptuners"

Anybody run into this? What was the fix?

Are you connected to the internet when you try to read the ECU/TCM? I had the same issue and needed to be online to automatically download some definitions before it would read and save correctly.

So, I've learned more about the PCM/previous tune since the original post... Our customer (car owner) bought a brand new PCM from HPT when the previous shop tuned his car. It was tuned with HPT. I spoke with the previous shop owner, and he said he has never locked any tune.

I was not connected to the internet, but it did not alert me like late model GM does. I was in the back of the parking lot. Is this a thing with the Mopar PCM's?

    What is your ticket number?

Internet connection has absolutely NOTHING to do with the issue.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Hi Bill,
I tried using the latest beta on a 2013 Wrangler to read the engine and tcm. Seemed to read fine then came up with a tcm check sum issue and I could not save it.
Repeated the procedure again, same issue.
The only way I could get it to read and save was when I connected to the internet and it automatically started downloading/updating definitions. Read and saved fine then.
    Any explanation for that?

Yes, not the same application, your vehicle likely required internet for your specific issue.
