Using the repository is free and same with using the segment swap feature, like if you needed a 4L80e segment swap.
The only time you need credits is when you license a computer/VIN/OS aka you make a change to a file and try to write it back into the vehicle. It will only costs credits once, for that computer/VIN/OS and all changes made to that same file past that will be free.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.
