    Cannot read vehicle pcm

Trying to read the stock file on a 2006 silverado with a 5.3. Ive used hp tuners for several years with no issues. When trying to read stock file it will start the process and the timer numbers go haywire, from like 4 minutes to 238 minutes and everything in between. It will almost finish the process and then says ?failed.? I unplugged radio completely thinking excessive system noise but nothing works. Thanks for any help.

Those trucks are bad about communication issues. If it has an aftermarket radio, steering wheel button interface box, or alarm system, those are notorious for causing those issues. You can try unplugging the radio fuses and see if it helps. You may also need to unplug any additional alarm or stereo interface boxes that are tied into the truck in order to get it to read properly.

You can try unchecking high speed as well, though it will take significantly longer to read.

I unplugged the radio completely and pulled fuses for radio, but ill look for alarm and any other stereo parts. Thank you for the response. The speakers do have a ton of feedback in them at all times, the owner said it did that after he hooked up the steering wheel controls in an aftermarket Grant wheel.
