Flex fuel tuning without a sensor on 5.3 trucks

I've been noticing a lot of trucks that have the yellow fuel cap and claim to be flex fuel do not have a flex fuel sensor. They run "virtual" and use the fuel trims to estimate ethanol levels? Seems like a disaster if someone mods one of these. Is that the case?

The virtual "sensor" trucks are not very accurate and take forever to figure out the ball park alcohol content.

I would never run E85 blends in one of those. A real sensor needs to be installed to be proper.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

That's what I was thinking. From a stock stand point it seems sketchy but on a modded car/truck it seems like a terrible idea. Thanks guys
