    Increase coolant temp.

Is it possible to increase the temp. allowed to run on the PCM. I think it's set to max at 250F.? Maybe allow up to 500F.

    Thanks

my question to you would be...why?
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I'm doing some testing on a car and I want to keep as much heat in the engine. The more heat is removed from the coolant system the more power lost.

I guess as long as the car you are testing isn't a daily driver...

How much pressure are you expecting in the cooling system to keep the coolant from vaporizing?

I was going to use a pressure gauge to test it, but maybe I'll just start with the stock 250F and it works I'll just let you guys know...

    Thanks for listening..

you are going to start pushing out freeze plugs if you get too much heat...
they might be called freeze plugs but they work the same way if you get too much heat and steam pressure...

also....there comes a spot where too much heat becomes a problem for detonation due to heat...
most pro racing vehicles shoot for around 212*F..seems to be that point where you can get the most spark advance possible yet still not have problems from heat detonation..
as you start to get hotter you quickly loose the ability to advance the spark....which leads to less power.....

so getting hotter really isnt that beneficial...

there have been many study's about this subject....
even just researching on google or something should pull up a lot of info for you.
