I've got a ton of questions... so plz bare with me.. thanks

my intentions.. I am working on my truck (body drop) and i'm having problem with security.. i have been told its passlock. to get gm to fix it.. i have to have truck completely together and take it up there.. well that won't happen for a long time..and i want to get the engine running now so i can decide what to do

Question time

After purchasing hptuner equipment (cable, software, credits)

Can I get around security settings?
How in depth can I get with computer mod's?
LIke, i need to remove air bag stuff, mod egr stuff, security stuff.. can i do all that?
This program mainly gui or programing language?

Say I want to help a few guys with there truck.. in the same range... can i just buy unlimited credits just for this range and do as many as i want?

is there an HPtuner reader program?? i just want to read the info everyone is posting up so i can do research on whats invovled...

i don't like going into something i don't know alittle about

yeah its just a simple enable/disable setting on 98 2.2's

How in depth can I get with computer mod's?

you'll be able to tune idle, spark, fueling, etc. so pretty in depth.

LIke, i need to remove air bag stuff,

thats a function of the BCM not the PCM meaning no you cannot modify that with hptuners

mod egr stuff, security stuff.. can i do all that?

yup, I believe an unlimited 98 2.2 truck license is 6 credits and you automatically get 8 with your initial purchase.

s-10's have been out of beta testing for a while now.

should work fine, there are two vats enable disable switches that should kill the passlock feature.

the program covers every vehicle.. or do i have to specify which vehicle im doing?

if you've done the unlimited model/year license it wont ask you to license it again, only if your doing pcm locked licenses.

computer to hptuners hardware to vehicle to read/write...if you opt for the pro version you can scan without a laptop though.

so i use the obII port to do all the read/write

say i find someone local that has the tuner.. can i get him to edit my computer without the truck there? or do i need my truck there.. or just an s10

yes, obd2 port, unless the person has a bench tuning setup they'll need your vehicle to be able to read/flash the pcm.
