    MTI C2 cam

Anyone know if the MTI C2 cam has timing advance built into the grind or timing gear mount? I called them, and they wouldn't give me a strait answer.

I'm getting 6 deg KR from 3500 to 5200 RPMs at 27 deg WOT.

I have almost no KR at 25 deg WOT. I'm going to try 24 deg tonight, and see if it all goes away.

My engine and exhaust is completely stock (except the cam), and I should be able to run it with 26 to27 deg with no issues. I hear is pinging at 27 deg.

If the cam has any advance built into it, it must be about 3 deg. That would make my car run around 30 deg WOT, which would make it ping. Backing it off 3 deg puts my car closer to 27.

The spark timing is referenced from the crankshaft. The cam timing won't affect the spark timing. What car are you tuning? My 2001 ZO6 cam/header car has 23* timing above 4400 rpm from .72 g/sec & down. This is with a 13.0 AFR.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a 2005 C6. The timing is being taken from the cam sprocket. Currently the engine is running rich (11.8 AFR), and it still pings. I'll set it back to 24 deg/12.8 AFR tonight and see how it does.

Lean it out to about 12.9 through peak torque and up to 13.2 (at peak HP) and I bet some of the pinging goes away. 11.8 is pig rich on an LS2.

BTW: LS2's don't usually like as much timing as the LS1's for some reason. Subtract about 2 from what you are putting in there and it will probably be much happier.
