    Write entire without license ?

A general question for "write entire" feature:

If i would have a bad PCM and want to get a used one from ebay (used one from a 2000 Camaro e.g., or any other V8 LS1 car/truck PCM), would it be possible to flash my hpt file (write entire feature) to the PCM i got from ebay? I have a 97 C5 with the license for MY 1997. I dont have a 2000 Camaro license.

And if that works, what PCMs from GM would be hardwarelike identical to the one in my C5 Corvette? Is there any list i could find in the www where it tells me what MY GM cars/truck would have the same hardware PCM like i have in my 97 C5 ?

This is just a basic question, i dont have any problems with my PCM. I was just thinking that it could be possible to scan the ebay offers once in a while, and as soon as there is a good offer for a PCM, just get one as spare. . .

Thanks for any info about that.

    Jochen

you would need a 2000 license, but will that pcm bolt directly up to your wiring harness and work?

97-98 LS1 computers are completely different from 99+ and to do flashes on multiple computers you'd need to license each one or have year locked licenses for the ones your flashing.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

OK, i have license for Corvette Modellyear 1997, and for Camaro Modellyear 2001 V8 LS1.
So i could flash a Camaro 2001 PCM with my 1997 file, but the PCM would not work in my Corvette cause its a different hardware. I understand that right ?!

So if i would buy a Camaro 1998 or 1997 PCM i would need to buy the license (MY or VIN locked) for that PCM to have it work in my 97 Corvette?

Will all 1997-1998 PCMs for LS1 V8 GM cars/truck will work in my Corvette? (assumed i have purchased the propper license)

    Thanks!
