    Open Loop Idle - PE

I am wondering if anyone has been able to run an idle in open loop on an 04 gto? I tried and just couldn't get it to work. I did some searching and found in MNR-0's thread that someone else had problems with an 04 gto in pe at idle.

Has anyone successfuly done this? Seems it would be very handy for large cam cars.

It was probably me that you read about. You could probably hit up support to get more info.

So is it a bug or did you get it figured out?

Well, I emailed support. Can you clue me in on what the result was?

I never did get it figured out. I threw my MAF back on and tuned it and picked up 2MPG and it drives better than it did in SD.

I don't think this has to do with SD vs MAF.

not sure i understand the question. i run open loop on my '04 and have no idle issues but what does power enrichment have to do with idle?

I couldn't get my vehicle to idle in open loop and that is the same problem that shizon is having with his vehicle. Maybe you could post up your tune so we could take a look and see what we missed.

I don't want a full time open loop tune. I just want the car in open loop during idle because of the overlap of the cam.

I own an '04 GTO. Use the search button, I found this by typing in

    "open loop economy"

OK. All you need to do is this:

    1. set PE to 1.0 up till 1200RPM
    2. set TPS enable PE to 0 up till 1200RPM
    3. set open loop F/A to 1.0 up till idle MAP, so if idle at 60kPa, 0-60kPa from say, 20*C up
    4. disable LTFTs (it sucks... a lot) (not necessary for this, but LTFT truly do suck)
    5. set PE MAP enable to 15kpa
    6. set PE enable delay RPM to 0
    7. disable the P0131 and P0151 DTC codes
    8. disable STFT open loop enable (if its not already)

Oh, and if you want me to take a gander at your tune, just post it up or email me...

Curious, but how would one reenable CL after you force it into OL at idle using this method? I've tried this on an '02 T/A and the vehicle is staying OL even when cruising at 2k, 3k, etc. I can enable it via the bidirectional controls, however.

    Thanks!

Just set the PE enable vs RPM back to stock from 1600RPM onwards. Zero it out 0-1200RPM.

    Perhaps PE enable vs. TPS?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but if you set the pe vs tps enable to 0 and kpa enable to 15 then it will always be in (PE mode)i.e. open loop. You would have to raise the enable rpm above idle in order to see closed loop again. But then once the car is warm, how would you get it to idle in open loop again?

If you change this back to stock, then how will it idle in open loop above 92 degrees (closed loop threshold)?

Just set the 0/400/800 cells to zero, then whenever the TPS is at zero, PE will be triggered, and by default, PE is open loop.
