2007 Mustang GT ECM to control ignition only

I'm building a race car and have all the factory wiring and ECM leftover from when my car was still on the street. I'm contemplating putting a carburetor on the engine and in doing so would only need to retain spark control. Has anyone tried this or any thoughts on whether or not it would work? Don't want to buy a new ignition control system if I don't have to.

    Thanks

    Why would you do that?
Stock PCM is pretty capable to control a 1000 HP+ engine.
Spark is load based, so you will lose the 2D spark map and it would work like a distributor, a rpm advance curve only.
