Thread: Spark Doesnt Change Even After Changing the high and low octane tables

    Question Spark Doesnt Change (3800 Camaro)

    Well as the title says , The Spark Is stuck at 10 deg no matter what i do .

    The car is a 1997 camaro 3800 N/A

    Here is what happens :

    1- I go to Engine ->Spark-> Main Spark Advance -> I change both the High Octane and Low Octane Tables

    2-When I Log with the scanner The spark doesn't change.

    I verified that the changes got flashed , by reading the car after flashing.

    Before anyone ask , i was trying to do a spark retard limiter(For the Flames and bangs ) at 2200 just to verfiy if it works so i can set it where i want (my car is loud and my neighbors are easly disturbed).

    The Tune : ‏‏Camaro trying to backfire(Messing With Spark)HPT.hpt

    Logs:

    closed loop iat on negative spark.hpl

    open loop iat off negative spark.hpl


    And guys please dont say "You're a ricer " , or whatever ,that's not the subject.

    BTW (This is my first post on the forum, and im still new To HP Tuners)

    Under Spark / Advance / Spark limiters....

    Set the "Commanded Spark" to 0* instead of 10* and see what happens.

    Sadly that didn't work .

    Guys , if anyone has any advice please share it .

    Is there an option in the editor that bypasses the spark advance tables ?

    Do i have to disable something for it to be applied?(I'm still a newbie)

    I have disabled the bank1 sensor2 o2 sensor , could that somehow be related ?


    Guys I really wanna optimize my spark (other than spark limiting), if you have anything to add , please do .

    it looks like it is in limp mode as spark is dead set at 10. tying going back to a completely stock tune clear any codes and see if spark moves as it should if it does then change up the table and see how it changes or not.

    Flashed the stock tune (no edits whatsoever) , and the spark is still stuck at 10.

    Any check engine light or codes? I can dig into it some on alldata at work today if get a chance.

    OK, so i got a P1350 (Pending) which is appereantly for the ICM(ignition control module) and a P0146 which is for an O2 sensor that i disabled (That's with the stock tune , i disabled it on my tune).

    Gonna go check the wires and connectors .

    Get a new ICM wires connection that plugs into ur ICM and ur good to go. P1350 happen to me, stuck at 10 degrees of timing none stop. Maker sure u solder the wires.

    I told him to check for codes as could see was in limp mode. Boards go bad more often then a connection tell you that working on them for 20 years yet to replace any connector on one of them or any other old Buick chevy olds caddy that all ran that setup. Don’t matter once fixed most don’t answer again on the thread and leave it hanging open with no end.
