    misfiring

Ok guys so I got this mailorder tune and It kept throwing a code. P0300 general misfire. Well I got my HPtunes and now and I tried a BUNCH of stuff to make it go away. I bumped the MAF setting up 1.15 and still nothing. I just set my timing retarded across the board. It is now lower than the stock timing. I did some loging and I noticed NO knock. What can be done to fix this? Below I added the tune I got from the mailorder place, what I tried to fix, and the log I did.

I would suggest you log the misfires for each cylinder and see if it is isolated to one cylinder or is global. A log of this would be very helpful as would a log of normal parameters.

I can only speculate right now but I would swap plug wires with a set of stockers and see if this goes away. Tuning shouldn't be causing misfires unless it is really out of whack.

Good info. I'll take a closer look at the tune.

Can you post the stock file?

I pulled a stock 03 file. I noticed in the PCMForLess tune that the idle timing is set to 28 degrees in the area where the car would be idling. Try setting those tables to stock in the PCMForless tune and see how it behaves. There may be too much timing there.

Ok guys I pulled back timing in the high octane and low octane settings, increased the maf setting, and put the IAT spark advance table to stock and put the stock plugs and wires into the truck. I AM STILL GETTING THIS P0300 code! This is getting abnormal. I noticed the long ter bank injectors were in the read with the IAT's (the injectors were 15% and the iat was 104*) but I changed everything to stock with the exception of the e-fan controls, and speed limiter.

    WHAT TO DO!

Please log the misfires for each cylinder and post the log...

    PID List -> Engine Diagnostics -> Misfire -> Misfire Current Cylinder #1 - #8

Also RPM, TPS, MAP, and Advance and KR.

I changed the PCm in my truck to the stock one and tried to upload the pcm tune, the bad one i mean. It wouldnt accept it. Is there a way to change the OS of the tune to let the file go from one PCM to another? I uploaded the high and low octane tables onto the stock tune I had and ran a LOg car wouldnt start at first and than when it did I got this log.

Try running the CASE Learn procedure. Details can be found in the help file. Just search for "CASE Learn" and follow the directions.

Instead of changing tune elements, try logging the
current misfire (cylinder mode) and misfire history
for all of the cylinders and see if it points you to a
bad boy. A large cam, light converter will simply
elevate misfire counts. You may just want to bump
the thresholds up to make it quit nagging but you
want to know what the problem is, first.

    Jimmyblue,

The last HPL posted has the misfires logged. The timing is extremely erratic.
