Look on some of the obs (old body style) gm and chevy forums and look for lextech. Pm him or get his email from someone he will be able to get you a spreadsheet for wiring. What vehicle will this be going in some more details would help tremendously.

It's going in a 84 vette. My issue is programming for a gen1 sb. Do you go about tuning as if it were a LS? I would think spark and knock sensors are going to be different.

Its a whole different animal. As long as you have p01 computer (411 pcm) you can use an express van tune file from 01- 02. This is really the only way to correctly setup a pcm to run a gen 1 sbc. Look in the tune repository for an express van tune closest to your setup and begin the process from there. Remember if it were easy everyone would do it.

You will need to put the LS sensors on your SBC engine. The big thing is getting a crank sensor that will work with your pcm and engine. I think you would be better off with a holley system or fitech. It may be cheaper in the beginning but the 5.3 setup will cost you more in the end. Plus the holley or fitech use a wideband 02 sensor where the 5.3 uses a narrowband 02 sensors.

The engine is already complete. I as just wondering if the original 5.3 tune is a good starting point or copy a tune from a 5.7 express van.

pick your poison I suppose. We are still lacking information about the setup. What transmission will you be using? auto or manual th350-400, 4l60 or 80e maybe even a powerglide. im running an express van tune with a H/C/I 5.7 and a 4l80e with a 411 pcm. If you are also using the same p01 pcm some of the express van tunes in the repository might be of great assistance to you. No matter what, you need to start from the top and work your through the entire tune to set it up best to suite your engine trans combo.
