Serial Dongle with latest software?

Is there a way to use an old Serial Dongle with the later versions of software?
I have an old serial dongle I use for Gen3 LS1 stuff but I need to switch the trans type & it can't be done in the early 2.22 software that I use with this old dongle as far as I'm aware.
Car has a file for a manual & I want to switch to an auto, easy as in the newer softwares but can't seem to see how to switch in the older version of software.
Just trying to avoid buying liucence for a car that I can tune for free with my old dongle

Plug it in and see if it updates. Mine updated the software automatically.

older cables will not work with the new software. you would need to send the old setup into hpt to have it updated.
