Would it be possible to add frequency reading as a form of input on the MPVI? Maybe duty cycle as well?...
I don't know if you can do an internal pull-up, but it'd be reasonable enough to just jumper a 10k resistor.

You could get a frequency to voltage converter and run it through that.

Thats a bummer. I wish they would make provisions to connect to an external logger through serial like they do with widebands. I deal with some Campbell Scientific and National Instruments data loggers at work and being able to interface something like that with HP tuners would be great, but I am sure it is easier said than done.
I was thinking about using the external trigger (if it ever works again) to sync HP tuners with an external logger. It would be a pain to go through the data but it would be a way to get more data from added sensors.
Something like one of these below are fairly inexpensive.

TI has the LM2917 and LM2907. Analog out depends on how fast the input frequency changes so it can be anywhere from a millisecond to 100 for the conversion. Good to 10 kHz and fairly linear in the middle of the band.

What pcm are you interested in doing this with? After doing some research into this, an e40 in a trailblazer has a fan speed sensor. I wonder if that could be used to read something like a compressor rpm signal?
