    some tuning from a newb

    well I been tinkering here and there and asking questions along the way. every bit I learned I have learned from this forum. so lets just get this out there that this tune might not be 100% perfect probably far from it but I'm gonna post a log to see what ya think about and the tune as well. so easy on the laughs and bring on the constructive criticism.

    the car is a 6 speed 331 geared 5.0 with an offroad x pipe and borla s-type axle back

    There's no wrong way to do it. Just want to say that first. I also appreciate you sharing your way of doing it as we can all learn something from it whether its something we want to do or not.

    What do you have for an intake? I ask because you modified your MAF curve and your first gear is running lean because of it. I believe this is why you are having knock in first. The lean part is fine I would just smooth the timing jump in the OP table a little bit more. You are also getting timing drops through out the gears from leaving the 1.1 load in the op table at 17's. I would bring them up to 22- 23 so that timing isn't pulled as drastically as it doesn't seem to be necessary. I would then work your way up to see if you can get them to 25* or higher as well. Right now it looks to be trying to pull weight from 7 and 9 as their MBT table are higher than OPs and the ECU is seeing that it can add more but is being limited by being in OP mode.

    The other route would be to fix your MAF curve and modify the WOT lambda table to .86- .88 as this is where you are running now. This would also improve the other gears as well.

    Looking over your tune, make the following changes and you should see the ECMuse the OP mapped point as soon as you go WOT

    Engine>Airflow>Variable Camshaft>OP Enrichment Req> set to "Disabled"

    When that setting is enabled for some reason the car will not start using OP spark table until 6500 RPM. My car was the exact sameway

    Also under

    Engine>Spark>Retard> Spark Advance> set every cell from .50 load to 1.00 load to 8. This is how the Boss has it set up and it will give the ECM more room to add timing. Your current setting has it to only be able to add up to 2* regardless of it being able to do more.

    my intake is stock murfie and I was using the scanner to populate the stft + ltft then taking those numbers back to the maf vs period table and using the multiply by half %. I think I did that atleast a dozen times lol. do you have another pid I can use for the scanner maybe mine isn't working properly or something? I have a stock file and I can always use the stock numbers again but I thought I was doing some kinda good by doing the method I was doing lol. yall guys are great and I appreciate the tips. I'm going to go eat lunch and then come back home and mess around some more. ill post another log here tonight.

    I compare commanded lambda and actual lambda. Put them in a chart and you can see what's going on. Turn up the polling speed and you really can see.

    ok I made some small changes and I'm about to load the the tune and go for a little cruise... also one thing I want to ask is that when I see negative knock is that bad or good? I keep reading mixed reviews on it lol

    when you say actual lambda is that based off what the ecm is telling it to do or what my wideband is saying? I have it located on the x pipe and on the driver side. Its kind of a bitch to watch the laptop and the wideband and the road all at the same time lol.

    In the scanner, adding Pids, use the search feature. Look for commanded lambda and wb eq ratio. I find the difference to be the error in the maf transfer. You won't find much if any improvement in the stock table with the stock intake. Maybe a tiny bit if you have a drop in filter. On your car negative knock is adding timing and positive is removing.

    well this didn't go as I planned I was out making a pass or two and I get pulled over smh he gives me a life lesson on speeding and such. come to find out he is dating my ex and it was a strange conversation. Anyways I did get a log in before he shut the fun down lol.


    I really think something is up with the scanner because not everything works like it should

    for some reason this wont let me upload picture lol I took a good one when I was pulled over hahaha. another thing Is I see people screen shot stuff on here and I have no clue on how to do that

    i look back at that log and i can see a dip on the timing graph. what would cause that ? its like the throttle body shut itself or something. the rpms start to go back wards for some reason

    It looks like it's switching from MP OP to MP9 mixed with a few others for a split second. Raise the MP9 some to match the OP table.

    I like to run the same bottom two rows on all Borderline tables. It helps because whether you end up a little in a table other than OP or not doesn't make a difference in what timing it runs.

    I think it's the tables with loads for Best Drivability and Fuel Economy under the Variable Camshaft tab. I think I'm tuning a Coyote Mustang on Saturday so I'll play with that a little to see the results.

    Disabling op enrichment like jn2 said helps. Then setting op mode requirements up properly as well.

    I noticed in those distance tables for the CJ files it's zeroed out for best drivability and best fuel Economy. I'll give that a try and see if it can keep it in OP

    More so than just throttle Enable pedal position and Enable%load?

    so is it a combo of zeroing out the drivability and economy tables plus setting up the op mode.... i cant wait til that damn coyote cookbook gets here. i feel like a blind man picking out his favorite porno at this point lmao
