Reading tunes done by other programs

Just wondering about reading tunes from other programs.
Example: If my Ford pcm currently contains a custom tune via an SCT unit, can I safely read that tune for comparison purposes without the risk of the Flash tuner unit becoming locked?
Obviously I wouldn't go writing to the pcm prior to returning it to stock.
    Cheers

As long as the tune itself isn't locked, you can There are a few that lock them though, like lund. there is no risk in reading it only

Yep. That is correct. When I was learning HPT, I had so many tunes I did with SCT that I would flash the SCT calibration and then read it with HPT. Mr. Bray is correct. Some guys will lock them. I have some very early Lund tunes that were not locked, but I haven't tried one of their more recent tunes.

Thanks guys, I'll plug in and see what happens. I'm assuming I will get some sort of message if it's locked.
