Yeah starting to think something is wrong with that WB controller then. HPT seems to accurately reporting what it's getting..

Got it straightened out. Could only happen to me lol. I got back in touch with PLX and after bringing up the negative volt readings again the tech realized the problem. The instructions and tests he had me do were not correct. Turns out I have a newer version of the SM-AFR but an earlier version of the instructions. The pin originally used for a ground is now 8v for their gauge, using the 8v terminal as ground and the 5v terminal for positive caused the neg. readings. The instruction sheet I have is for the earlier version not the one I have. Using a chassis ground and the ground for the power in plug did the trick. Thanks for your help, I was ready to take a hammer to it.

Awesome. They really need to label things clearly so stuff like that doesn't happen

Either way, at least it's fixed

    Hello Guys,
Could one of you learned gents identify the pin out data for the 4pin plug on the SM-AFR for me please. I have been donated a couple with a vehicle I bought and need to connect up to my MVPI.

I trying to identify which is the GRND pin

I believe I know the following, but of course I could be way off.

    RH Upper 0-1V
    RH Lower 0-5V
    Cheers

Thank you very much. I'm having trouble getting any response from PLX themselves, after 3 support tickets I have given up trying.

The 'should' bit has left it open I guess.

Could I can tell by checking for voltage output of either LH pin with the unit powered? Or maybe pin continuity with the GRND ring of the power socket while the unit is off?

I wish they had marked these units up a bit better!

I've heard more and more complaints about their total lack of support

Yeah you should be able to check for continuity between the bottom left pin and a vehicle ground to see if that's ground or not. I'd probably check for voltage between that pin and ground first just to be sure there isn't any. I've fried a meter or two when trying to check for resistance on something that had power going through it..
