2.9l whipple on 2015 lt1 silverado

Hi everyone

Haven`t been around since ?i sold my 03 whippled z06....

My son just purchased a 2.9 whipple kit for his 2015 5,3l silverado. kit will arrive with no tune, so I am thinking that perhaps hp tuners might be the way to go (again)

any thoughts? also one question on map sensor. not being familiar with late model chevys, I guess that this sc uses the oem map sensor ...no install instructions for anything otherwise. so how will this all work?

You'll want to get the correct 3 bar map for it and tune the speed density in - very important on the gen 5's... Just giving you a heads up on this - but blowers can be a touch of a pain on the gen 5's - if you can - you might want to get a very base tune from whipple even though they need quite a bit of work? You'll also want to look into the baro sensor removal from the MAF sensor - talk to DSteck about that one...

a bit of history on this one....my son decided to purchase the competition kit (no superchips tune, etc.) and was going to have it installed and tuned by a 3rd party. When informed, I offered to help with the install and having used hp tuners often in the distant past, thought it to be best to purchase hpt and tune ourselves, but need some education on this newer stuff.

so , excuse the stupid questions, but who is DSteck...will see if whipple might offer a base tune in hpt format

You can get a hold of him through PM... He offers a lot of sensor and harness upgrades... You can buy the map and or map pigtail if needed straight from a GM dealer but you will need to get the baro removal setup from him - the high vacuum of the blower throws off the baro update during wot maneuvers - not 100% needed, but much better to have...

Just spoke with someone at dedicated and he could not confirm whether their harness would work with this vehicle ???

sounds like a plan...I guess that I am still trying to figure out what OTHERS with similar setups are doing and also what is whipple providing with its kits....junk, pot luck...still trying to get educated, but most threads regarding gen 5`s are all about problems.....it`s all as clear as mud (to me)
