Question Can you install a 2002 Fbody M6 OS into a 2003 5.3L Truck PCM?

For years, I have installed 01-02 Fbody OS's into 99-02 truck, C5 and Fbody PCMs.

I have a guy that is installing a LS into a 1948 international truck with 4 speed manual that has a 2003 Silverado PCM, it needs a manual tranny OS in his PCM.

Since the file sizes are the same 02 to 03, I'm assuming it can be done but not sure. Anyone ever do this before?

1999 to 2002 truck P01 PCMs have Blue / Red connectors and a 512 Kb flash memory. 2003 to 2007 (classic) truck P59 PCMs have Blue / Green connectors and a 1 Mb flash memory. They are not interchangeable.

If you compare the size of a 2002 and a 2003 truck calibration - you will notice that these are not the same size. The only 2003 model year exception is the 2003 Corvette - which used a carry over 2002 P01 PCM.

You don't have to have a manual OS in the computer.

My friend but a TH350 behind a 5.3 in a crawler with a tahoe computer, I just disabled all the trasnmission related codes and it runs fine.
2016 Silverado CCSB 5.3/6L80e, not as slow but still heavy.

If you don't post your tune and logs when you have questions you aren't helping yourself.

5 years ago I put a 97 S10 Blazer 4.3 (only came with automatic transmissions) with harness and computer into a 91 S10 re-using the 91 5-speed. It ran great other than the high idle during decel....pretty annoying! The idle would FINALLY come down when the vehicle came to a stop. I didn't have the HP Tuner setup back then so I ended up finding the VIN# for a 97 S10 Pickup with the 4.3/5-speed combo and I used my Tech2 to flash the Blazer's computer with the Pickup OS....uworked perfectly.

I am guessing that you won't need to take it that far to make this client happy. You can probably just find a Gen3 2003 V8/manual trans file in the repository, compare the idle info to yours, then copy and paste idle fields that affect coast down idle.

find the silverado 4.8 5 speed and flash it. that was the only manual silverado that year gas wise.
