Thread: manually failing MAF required on 3bar OS??

manually failing MAF required on 3bar OS??

pretty straight forward question but I seem to be getting mixed answers in all my searching. In order for me to pass emissions I cannot have any active DTC's and have to have readiness monitors set.

the truck will be running a 3Bar OS, do I still need to fail the MAF manually (DTC's set to fail on first error, and MAF hz's set to 0)? A few posts have said that it didn't matter with the custom OS but have seen people suggest that I had better fail it manually just in case.

I don't care if the DTC's are in the pcm 364 days of the year but I have to have them off for that stupid test. if I don't HAVE to fail the MAF the that would be ideal.

Disable them as in set them to "no error reported"?

Unless something has changed, just running the SD COS does not make it run in SD mode. It has to see the MAF code set to run in SD. I've seen vehicles with the SD COS installed with a working not failed MAF, still using the MAF when running.

No, Fail on first error...the MAF has to fail in order to revert to SD. I leave the SES checked so I know it has failed over into SD. Also set the Maf High Freq fail to 1 hz

Did you actually read what he is trying to accomplish?

Yeah that's the problem I am having, I can't have them active when I go in for emissions, so I was hoping there was a way around setting the codes to "fail on first error" and still get it to work.

I know I can't be the first one to run into this issue, just gotta get creative and figure out how to beat the system lol

Simple MAF tune and DTC work and inspection passes....you aren't going to go wot full boost...then when back home, back to SD and ripping the tires :-)
