Pilot timing still screwy since HP major software update

As you could guess I was excited to receive the .88 update which includes a heap more parameters. Bravo!

I went straight to addressing my pilot timing woes, only to find that even with the newly accessible tables, it STILL seems to follow some unknown pilot timing table. I even dropped the 250us pilot/main min timing to 50us to no avail. I've attached a file and log in the hope that someone smarter than me has found the issue already.

I think your issue may be that the pilot timing tables are displaying timing from main, while the scanner is reporting actual pilot timing. As indicated by your pilot timing correction reason of "Base Table", it doesn't appear any other factor is at play.

Pilot always seems to be mid twenties degrees away from main. I still don't understand

I played with them on my calculator.

I was using it to ramp fuel up top, removed minimum overlap and was able to request more fuel.

then i smartened up and realized i could just scale up the MM3 Pedal table up top instead...

But yes i was able to control the Pilot time..

So the Timing calculator did full calculation of what i needed in both Pilot and Main Timing when i was to use this setup.

Let me know if i can help with anything.

I've attached a log and file from the new HPT. Still doing some funky things, like showing 2mm of pilot quantity, but no pilot duration?? Also Pilot timing is ALWAYS 22 degrees in front of main, regardless of what's in my tables. C'mon people, why am I having such a hard time with this? Is the labelling all wrong, or am I just stoopid?? Vehicle is a 2004.5 325hp manual

Pilot Fuel Correction Reason = Coolant Temp
Post Fuel Correction Reason = Coolant Temp
Pilot Timing Correction Reason = Intake Air Temp

The scanner is telling what is controlling those parameters.

Perhaps putting all your pilot tables back to stock would be a good starting point.

I get that the reasons are there, but why don't they follow what I'm asking for in those tables? @Matt?

So going over logs and files, it seems that there is a 20* lead in the pilot timing when scanned. So if you look back through a stock log file for instance, you'll see an extra 20* more than commanded. Pilot is scanned based off TDC, not off main, as Matt previously said. So look at your log of pilot timing, add main timing, then subtract 20*, then look at what you are commanding in your table. It should now match. I remember reading about a 20* offset in another Cummins tuning software, anyone care to elaborate why this exists?
