BEWARE! Ve equations bricked 3 e38 ecms!!!

Hey guys, just wanted to give you guys a heads up. I'm tuning my 2010 sierra with e38 ecm. I used the bluecat 5.0 tool to try correcting an issue I was seeing using the built in vve tool in 3.0. Some of the values bluecat generated apparently corrupted the Cal file in my ecm. It knocks out the communication protocol, rendering the ecm useless, even when trying to use gm programming and recovery methods. No scan tool or programming protocol will communicate with the ecm. It first seemed to be a vehicle battery issue. Second issue seemed to be an hpt cable issue. Third time was no question the vve equations. Having said that, the prior two flashes that ruined my ecms both happened after a flash using bluecat vve calculated coefficients.

Lets get something strait here. This version 5 is something Ktoonze came up with and is in no way associated with me. He stole my code and twice now has released his own versions. He offered to add the hooks for the windows to the program way back in the beginning and regrettably I gave him access to the code. We had words years back and I thought I made it very clear he was to cease and desist after he was caught selling my code to HPTuners. I seen he was back at it, but like last time he started making versions, I've been to busy to do anything about it. V3, V3.5, V5 are all rouge versions.

That being said, there are no checks in any versions that I am aware of the validate the end result. The results of any program of this type are all about what you feed it. So you might want to look at the data your using to generate from.

Bluecat, I apologize as I was unaware that you were no longer behind it. I looked for version 3.5 as I had used it in the past with no issues. I am in no way blaming the software itself. Just warning guys that if the program just happens to come up with the right set of numbers, it can corrupt the ecm. I have since solely used hpt built in tool with no issues at all. All data I input came straight from hpt tune file or scanner data, just as it is with the hpt vve tool. Tuning is an at your own risk type deal, so I blame no one. Just giving fellow tuners a heads up to maybe stay away from the software on similar year trucks as mine with e38 ecm.

Dave, why do you want an ecm? I think I still have your address in some old messages

Dave, I will send it out this week. Nothing gm dealer level, or tuning wise will connect to it. But if you can revive it, I'll pay you to do both so I have spares or use them in my shop
