    permanant dtc

    hey guys,

i am using the new scanner 3.0 and when i look at dtc it pulls up a list of codes and they are labeled as (permanant). the 2.24 scanner doesnt show them at all. i try to clear them but they come right back. two of the codes that are permanant are codes i have set to no error reported and no cel light. anybody else had an issue with this.

I don't know if this will help anyone but the reason I couldn't clear the code was because it was in the bcm and I suppose hptuners can't clear bcm codes. Used the modis and it cleared no problem

I have seen vcm scanner read permanent codes, when other scanners couldn't. Talked with keith about this, he said he was going to change some settings so it wouldn't display them.
it was crazy, you could clear codes, with any scanner, modis, verus, otc, autel, and codes were gone, however 3.0 scanner would still retrieve them. was crazy, but vehicle has reset codes, so I didn't let that concern me

It's just showing you info the others aren't. This isn't HPT doing anything wrong...

yes, a permanent code cannot be cleared, even though you disabled the code, the ecm still has to self check. once it does that, it clears itself. Permanent are designed to be non clear-able, for those that go to autozone and clear codes before getting inspected
