    misfire cyl. 6 & 7 only

    2010 Camaro SS

I put the stock cam back in, and had the dealer put in a new ECM and flash it with the correct vin to put the car back to an auto transmission.

Now the car has a nasty misfire, but only on cylinders 6 and 7; which is very odd.
I pulled the plugs and checked compression, plugs were good, compression was at 152 lbs.

Do I need to do a case relearn?

Simplest question. Is it a miss you can feel?

Yes. the car runs very rough.
I pulled the front of the engine apart and went over everything yesterday and a bit today, I do not see any errors with the work done.
I am suspecting that the ECU the dealers installed was bad, although it looks like a brand new unit.

the log shows a large amount of misfires on 6&7.

Did you try swapping coils and wires from 6 and 7 with 2 cylinders that didn't show miss to see if it follows...injectors?

    not yet.
Ill try it later today, although the car ran fine with the last ECU and cam.
the harness for the manual transmission was a piggyback one I made and removed, so no changes on the engine side of the harness were made.

I agree with Ed. Move coils, wires and injectors from 6/7 to 1/2 and see what happens

You originally had an auto which means you should have the L99 with DOD. AND since the 2 cylinders misfiring are DOD cylinders (1,7,2&6), just wondering if you have lifter damage somehow now? Seen it after cam swaps... Easiest and quickest way to tell is to remove the valve cover and have someone spin it over with a jumper relay or just let it idle and watch the rockers. Just a thought if it's not ignition related and it did just have cam work done...

Looks like it may have been the DOD solenoid was disconnected.
I did not think that it would cause so much of an issue at idle disconnected.

It controls oil flow to the dod lifters. Has to be energized to fully open and allow full oil flow to the lifters. I'm surprised it wasn't misfiring on more...

That and if any problem exist with the DOD system the ecm is supposed to shut down all of those cylinders? Really not sure why it wasn't misfiring on more now? Would suggest shutting off DOD in the tune if possible, that is if you don't want it.

This why I love this Forum and the tuners who hang out here. Great job Greg zeroing in on the problem here. I personally have added that as a "memory sticky" for later use. Thanks man....
