Thread: Can't read ECU

    Can't read ECU

    I can't get an ECU read on my 2012 F-150 5.0.

I get an error when it says it's checking the ECU security then it says will retry in 12 seconds then says failed. I had a tune on the truck so I flashed back to stock with my other tuner and it does the same thing (I bought the truck new so i know these are the only tunes the truck has seen). At this time I notice that in vehicle details it has my truck as a 2012 sierra v8 but my VIN number is showing correctly.

I've tried unchecking the high-speed box and it does the same thing. I've tried other tunes as well and no change. My SCT tuner is changing tunes just fine so I know there's power to the OBDII port. Yes the Key is on. Device manager shows MPVI channel A and B using both UBS 2.0 and 3.0 ports. I'm using Windows 10 on a Lenono gaming laptop.

    Thanks in advance.

    wouldn't be a bad idea.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Ok, I did. When we figure out the problem I'll post the solution so it might help someone else in the future.
