    2012 F150 5.0L System Options A/C Drop-Down box question?

I'm in the process of doing a Coyote swap using a stock 2012 F150 5.0L PCM/reworking the stock harness, and noticed in the tune that it has a drop-down box for a manual A/C input.

We had this same box on the GM LS computers, and it enabled a pin on the ECU to allow a hard 12V input to the PCM so that it would change the idle parameters and activate the electric fans.

IF that's what this is, can ANYONE please point me to the proper pin on the ECU so that I can add it into my wiring schematic, that would be stellar!

I see the pressure switch PID is enabled, but the other one is not.

    Thanks in advance!

Also, there is one for a power steering pressure switch, any idea on if there is a pin input for that guy as well? I have this switch on my swap vehicle, and would love to be able to wire it in as well.

Just about to building my harness and wiring stage of the swap on this Coyote. Any help with this is appreciated before I begin my guess and check strategy.

Are you able to get past the PATS system now?

    So far so good!

About to begin the A/C wiring. I'm going to poke around the ECU and see if I can locate an input pin, as well as reference some schematics for other vehicles that use this ECU.

What strategy are you using? That determines what pin if its software supported.

Also, out of curiosity, whats the car?

    -Matt
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies. The first method is far more difficult.

    Matt,

I'm using a 2012 F150 ECU with strategy KTCP4CZ. I did some searching, and found that pin #57 on the "B" or Body connector is your AC Request input, this is how the Ford Racing Power Pack is wired, AND referencing an E-Van of the same model year shows that they use a manual 12v input on this pin as well for A/C request.

I changed my drop-down box to Enabled on the input, then applied power to pin 57, but the computer isn't showing A/C request input.

I'm assuming, this is because the calibration isn't recognizing the manual 12v input, as the strategy of the 2012 F150 is to receive this request on the HS-CAN and MS-CAN from the climate control module.

The car, is a 2003 Marauder, with a 2012 Coyote and 6R80 6-speed auto. Here's one of my many video's:

What aftermarket module are you using for the MIL??

    Nice build.

    Thank You!

I'm using the Dakota Digital STA-1000. It picks up the MIL/TACH/Vehicle Speed via the HS-CAN Bus. Luckily, this Marauder still has a fully hardwired cluster where all the sensor inputs are manual, so it worked out great with the stock instrumentation.

I would love to get the PCM some A/C request though, it would make things so much better as far as cooling fan/WOT cutout/throttle kicker. Hopefully, in time, it could be added into the Ford ECU's. This is assuming I'm on the proper pin, however, I believe it to be by the two sources I have found. No worries, everyone at HP has been doing an excellent job at getting support going for the Coyote stuff!

I know on the early GM LS/GEN 3 ECU's, it was added in later on that we could select from a network A/C request input, or manual B+ Input as well as some other A/C goodies .

Here's the build thread on the Marauder, for those interested. It's a LONG read, but there are lots of pics and videos spread throughout the thread, as well as on my YouTube page:

So i'm assuming, with my OS that there will be no way to get a hard wired A/C request input? It would be nice if there could be some code or a patch written in that would allow use of my OS with the hardwired input, sort of like they did with the GEN 3 GM LS computers, that was great when HP Tuners offered that drop down box, it saved a lot of time on the swap cars getting around the A/C issues.

Just an update on this from my end, I never was able to get the AC request to show in the PCM....however, I did come to find through testing on stock vehicles that unless the PCM has the Ambient Air Temp Sensor wired in, it will NOT energize the A/C Clutch. I never did get around to testing it on the Marauder before I sold it though, but for those trying this method it might be worth giving the PCM an Ambient Temp Input and re-evaluating.
