I'm wondering what, if anything, can be done to these cars without voiding the warranty, or if GM even has a way to know if the tune has been altered if the car is put back to stock each time it is taken to the dealership.

The way I hear it, they check to see how many times access to the computer has been requested vs how many times a dealer has accessed it. If it differs too much, no warranty coverage.
