Exclamation Did I really get a NTK WBO2 Sensor from Autozone? (AFX NGK)

    Hi guys,

I bought my AFX NGK WB unit around year 2009. Overall it has worked great but lately it has been acting weird at times so it was time to buy a new WB O2 Sensor again. After doing some searching on here, it seems the NTK is the better sensor over the "stock" one. I ordered one from Autozone for $69.00 this week and this is what I got (see attachments). The numbers on the box match what a NTK should be but the end of the sensor looks different and doesn't have "NTK" stamped anywhere on it.

Is this a real NTK sensor or something else? Anyone else buy on from Autozone?

    Bill

They changed the sensor design about a year ago. I order mine online now to make sure I get the correct one. All of the new "cheaper" NTK sensors look like that now. Even the new sensor that comes with the new NGK wideband looks like the one you have pictured. I've used them without issues but prefer to use the tried and true design of the more expensive sensors they offer. There are 3-4 different grade NTK sensors that you can get and use with the NGK AFX or AFM1600.

Just to add to this, the sensor Bill found is a newer and lower cost sensor. Its primary purpose is a cost reduction compared to the traditional NTK sensors and we generally expect it to behave more like a Bosch sensor in use due to the way it is manufactured. We don't recommend this sensor with the AFX / AFR500.

For the AFX / AFR500 we have a listing of all the accessory and replacement parts, including the sensor options here:

I've never had an issue with their brake cleaner...
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
