    Inital ai flow

Hey guys, so im trying to get my 2000 ls1 with a new 228r cam (228/228 112 lsa) to start better, biggest prob is starting when hot, it wont start without the pedal, starts cold with no pedal but it could be better, iv been adjusting base idle air flow, i think its ok, start up spark advance is a 23* once its running its ok, but adjusting initial air flow dosent seem to do much, the stock table is all at zero, ive tried adding about 1 LB/h at hot temps, and ive tried coping the base air flow to the initial air flow, but no difference.

    So my questions are
1 is initial air flow added to the amount on top of base air flow?
2 should the delay and decay be adjusted to get initial air flow to work?

    Thanks

What are your IAC counts hot?

Do you have a tune file to share? A scan file that shows the hot start issue?

This should be a sticky.....oh wait it is :-)

To get help you have to provide the basic information so readers can provide proper insight. The last "need" is a copy of the .cfg file you used to perform the log.

That being said, there is a whole idle tuning procedure which needs to be done, but it wont be effective unless you have dialed in your MAF and VE tables including the area's near idle.

Besides the base idle air tables and IAC counts (would recommend 40-60 at operating temp), there are initial start and after start enrichment tables (see below) which are based on engine temp. The secret is to make small changes in the temp areas that yyou are having issue. Also a general rule of thumb s/b if you increase the fueling by a percentage at a temp range then increase the decay rate the same percentage to preclude overfueling.

Hope this helps. These are things that you can learn through reading or formal interactive courses available.
