    MPVI Interface

I bought a second cable (used) and want to check the remaining credits on it as it is supposed to have 4 and I just want to verify. The two computers that I have already have my current MPVI interface listed and I don't want to booger something up so I thought I'd better ask.

I have the serial number and application key to the second cable setup so how do I go about confirming the number of remaining credits on it?

    Thanks

connect it to your pc, enter the application key for it and gather an infolog from it.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

    Thanks Bill.

Does the following mean that 6 credits were used to tune this car?

    2007 Pontiac Solstice (4cyl), (GM:6)

There is no VIN number associated with it so I'm curious to know.

    Thanks again

    Edited to remove bad info.

There was one other vehicle (a Saturn Sky) that was linked to it and it included a VIN number and showed that it used 2 GM credits.

The infolog shows 0/8 GM available credits which I'm sure means that there are no credits available on this interface and that it would require credits to be purchased in order to use it. I'm just not sure why it shows that the Pontiac Solstice with no VIN gobbled up 6 credits.

After reading about the licensing, it appears that the original user licensed the year/model instead of a single VIN.

    Bill,

Would the 6 credit license allow another user with a 2007 Pontiac Solstice the ability to read/modify their ECM? I looked at the supported vehicles and the year/model license for the Solstice shows that it requires 12 credits. This interface was originally set up in late 2007. Did it require only 6 credits back then?

    Thanks

Yes, it used to be 6 credits for the year/model license for these.

So if I sold it to someone with a 2007 Solstice, would they need to upgrade to the 12 credits that it requires today or will this interface allow them to read, modify and write with the 6 credits that it is currently set up with? That might be a nice selling point.

    Thanks

The license is there, they won't be charged any more even though we increased the price.

    Bill,

Since the supported vehicle list shows 06-09 Pontiac Solstice on the same line, would that year/model license apply to all 06-09 Solstices? Would the license also work on the Saturn Sky as well since it is the same platform?

    Thanks

No its one year of one model, not multiple years multiple models.
