Doesn't matter really. Just remember that if you move it to cold pipe...you won't have a iat1 reading that is accurate as its sensor is built into the maf. Install it into 3" tube section only
That question is more important when you're talking about using a vta bov. Aside from that, like cobaltssoverbooster said, it doesn't really matter.
