    Race Render

Does HPT logging info export into Race Render to display on video or is there a suggestion out there for a good solution (maybe a bluetooth or wireless OBDII plug in) that I can put on top of a GoPro vid?

    Thanks.

Yes, it does work with RaceRender. When you have your log open in VCM Scanner, go to Scan -> Export Data, and that will save your data as a CSV file that can be used with RaceRender.

The templates included in RaceRender are a starting point that can get your speed, tach RPM, and throttle visualized. To display the other data channels that may be included in the log, click the "Add" button under "Display Objects", choose the visualization type you want (Gauge, Bar Graph, Time Graph, Text Data, etc.), then select the data channel you want to display under "For Data Field" at the top, and choose a style that you like. It should then appear on the screen, and its properties box will appear on the right, where you can change the Field, min/max data Range, and various display options to customize it further. You can also click & drag to move it's position on the screen.

When you have your custom dashboard layout looking the way you want, you can save it as a template for easy use by future projects: go to File -> Export Layout as Template, choose which items to include, then create the file in RaceRender's Templates folder. If you kept the video displays included in the template, then save it with a name that starts with "Project - ", and it will appear in the New Project menu. If you excluded all video displays from the template, then save it with a name that starts with "Data - ", and it will then appear as a data layout choice when creating a new data overlay project or when adding a data file to a project. These files will have a .RRT file extension and can also be shared with other RaceRender users.

Awesome thank you! Can I also use a VBOX Sport to get GPS related data in there also?

Yes, RaceRender should be able to use its .VBO or .CSV file output.

Having separate files for GPS and other data will add some complexity, but RaceRender does support it: After doing the initial setup with one data file overlay, you'll then need to add the second data file to the project, and just cancel out of the template menu that appears for it. Now go the Display Objects list and double-click on each display that you want to use with the second file you just added... That will open the properties box and you'll just need to make sure the "Active" checkbox is enabled and set the "Input" selection to your second data file. You can also use the "Add" button to add more displays, as explained in my previous post, but make sure that the "For Input File" selection at the top is set to the correct data file.
