    Harness for Bench Tuning

I built a harness for tuning on the bench. It has the Red and Blue PCM connectors, DLC connector, On-Off switch and battery clips. The wiring is as follows. DTC connector: pin 2= Data, pin 4 &5= GND, pin 16 =+12V.....The PCM is 12200411, 2003 5.3. PCM wiring is pin 58 =data , grounds and constant and run/start power. This setup DID NOT work with my non HP Tuner scanner that IS OBD II compatibke. I have not yet received my HP Tuner Suite so the VAT is not masked.

I'm sure one of you has solved this problem, if I have one?

I built this to get a head start as the motor is a transplant for my '55 Chevy. HELP ??

For the LS1 PCM you only need the blue plug, the pins are:

    1 GND
    19 IGN (+12V)
    20 +12V
    40 GND
    57 +12V
    58 VPW serial

You also need a 12V battery or a 1.5A regulated power supply.

    Re: Harness for Bench Tuning

    Thanks for the reply Chris...

Looks like I have the correct connections. I did ground pins 1 and 40 on the Blue connector. It showed it in my Mitchell on Demand diagrams.

I guess that not having the VAT disabled is causing the problem. My HP Tuner suite will arrive in the next day or two and then the Fun Begins...

    Thanks Again,
    Dave

VATS shouldn't affect it. I can connect and scan LS1, V6, 4cyl, LS2, PCMs, ECM's, TCM's on my bench fine.

How right you are........I went over my wiring several times. The DLC is mounted on a bracket so I really could not see the top pin numbers, but I continued to validate a wrong connection. Today I took it apart to add a connection to pins 8 and 12. In doing so, I found the data pin 2 was actually in pin 7. A quick fix. All is well now..I am CONNECTED !!
