Best ecu for 4l80e and LS1

Expereinced tuner just not with HPtuners. Looking at installing an ls1 from a 99 corvette in front of a 4l80e. I have the wiring and ecu from vette, but being the 80e issue is there a better ecu to use?

Will HP tuners provide the needed functions easily or will be it bandaids? Trying to decide if I go the GM Ecu route, or go aftermarket (holley dominator) which obviously is a few more dollars but very familiar to me.

The PCM you have will be fine. I would recommend running a 2002 Corvette file with the 80e segment.

Are you keeping the drive by wire throttle from the corvette or switching to a cable?

Either way, keep your 99 PCM, and run EITHER an F body LS1 2002 12212156 OS with a 4L80E segment swapped in (cable throttle) or a Corvette 2002 12212156 OS with a 4L80E segment (drive by wire). No band aids, no issues... And most importantly, no money blown on an aftermarket computer and harness that you flat out don't need.

I should be able to upload base files for you to work from if you let me know which throttle you're using.

I would appreciate it greatly. I plan to keep the drive by wire system since it is all there and I took the pedal out of the car also. (which BTW I would suggest not wrapping a corvette around a tree to get parts) With that said I have just about everything from the car which will make it slightly easier.

The vehicle it is going in had a holley dominator system in past, but when the old engine had issues I sold it off. I am very familiar with the tuning aspect of things, just not so much how Hptuners works, the OS's, credits, etc.

Email support and request the 2.25 beta so that you can do a segment swap. I'll upload 2 files for you tomorrow that will make it work. I'd swap them myself but I don't have unlimited year model licenses for what you need so I can't do it for you without it costing me money.

Being this is going into a different vehicle, what vin # should I use. I can use the 99 vette vin it came from, or the 99 vette I bought to replace the wrecked one.

The VIN doesn't really matter. You'll have to license whatever is in the PCM, and if you do choose to change to a 2002 file, you'll also need to license that. When you flash that file in, the PCM will no longer accept the 99 VIN.

If you search the repository for files, you can track down a 2002 12212156 file that is drive by wire (Cadillac Escalade is one) as well as a 2002 12212156 file that has a 4L80E, such as a 6.0 liter 2500HD.

If time isn't a concern I can write a stock 2002 C5 4L80E tune to your PCM for free if you pay shipping. It'll save you a little money from having to license two files...
