    Wideband afr error questions inside

So I had my wideband in my truck a while but always had my LTFT tune my part throttle cause it wasn't wired into my HpTuners. My LTFT were between -2 and 2 for the most part. My wideband always showed a 14.2 when my narrow signals finally zero out my LTFT. Now that my wideband is linked into my HpTuners and I'm running open loop and trying to command a 14.68 afr it runs pretty bad if I let the Wideband AFR Error do the corrections. Then I stumbled across this a few minutes ago. http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showth...ng-closed-loop http://www.hptuners.com/forum/attach...6&d=1237006908 I always run 93 octane here and almost every place says may containe up to 10% ethonal. Is this the reason my Narrow bands wants a 14.2afr. And should I change my open loop commanded afr to this 14.2 and tune it with my wideband that way?

So you are supposed to copy the afr error chart and paste/multiply into the VE table?

When I do this my truck runs worse and for some reason seems to keep shooting for a 14.2 afr with maf disabled and set to .1 across the table and closed loop disabled. But could all this here be caused by the E10 and I need to target a 14.2 afr?

Post your tune, log, .cfg and histogram so we can validate. The error configuration is supposed to develop the difference between your commanded Lambda/AFR and your actual AFR recorded by the WB. Adjustments to your MAF/VE data at those specific axis area's are made in accordance with the error.

For starters, the open loop table s/b set to lambda or eq ratio. Leave stock except for the 176 degrees ect and up which you will set to 1.0. This will force a "14.2" all the time for tuning purposes. See my other response about lambda vs. AFR in this GEN III section. Now set your stoich AFR value 14.2.

I would also recommend setting your WB meter to Lambda as well to preclude all the AFR adjustment depending on the alcohol content of the gas.

I already set those tables to 1.0 so it wouldn't change. So you think the 14.2 is due to the Ethonal content and I need to command a 14.2 afr in my open loop table? I'll post tune/logs/configs this afternoon. I'm at work just trying to research as much as I can in my spare time.

The wide band will only display what ever you tell it stoich AFR is. Again, it operates in the Lambda realm looking for oxygen to determine how good the burn is. When the burn is just right, it records a 1.0 lambda. Based on what ever you set the stoich to in your wideband setup, that is what it will display. If you are seeing 14.2 on your wide band when you are at a Lambda 1.0 (LTFT and STFT = 0) then that is what you set it to.

What Wide Band are you using?

LC1. Only thing I did was I shorted the scale speed of it that I found from another thread that says they can read too fast. I've had more than one sensor over the past months and all right about 14.2. Guess I'll make the change over to Lambda

I went in through the lc1 programmer and selected lambda on the analog 2 signal. It still shows an AFR number on the gauge but its at 14.6/7 now and matching my narrow bands like it should be. Just gotta do a good bit of driving to comfirm this part.

What ever I did in the programming rather it be selecting lambda or the fresh air calibration everything looks normal now. Afr error is now +-2 like my LTFTs use to be and not showing +-8 like it was yesterday.

Yep everything looks fine and lined out now. Thanks for all the advice and guidance. I'm sure I'll need some more info in the future. Only question I really have and haven't come up with anything through Google and Innovate site. When I switch my Lc1 to lambda is the gauge supposed to show 1 or still show an afr reading ?

Not sure what Guage you have but should have instructions on how to display lambda. If you are going to tune in lambda, then you should to display in Lambda. After a while you'll be comfortable with seeing 1.0 as stoich, .87 as wot pe and 1.05 as being lean.
