e38 live tuning, user friendly interface?

    Hey guys ,

I'm just after some straight answers as I'm a bit confused,

Can you tune an e38 ecu live on the dyno?

What does the 1 bar enhancement get you?

can the e38 be reflashed with a more user friendly config with a simple VE table? similar to the ls1 config?

    Cheer in advance

    Jay

you need to read up buddy if you want to attempt tuning this platform.

    E38 no live tuning
E38 has no 1 bar enhacement only 2 bar
E38 reflashed with a different OS you mean user friendly?

i have done a bit of reading and it seems like a total pain in the arse to tune.

How do you go about doing your timing if you cant adjust it on the fly?

it would be awesome if someone created a custom os so it acted like a MOTEC/HALTECH or similar for standalone engine swap in buggies / boats etc...

Why cant they make it like the ls1 ecu's? theyre awesome to tune!

Scanner will let you increase timing on the fly, you just have to write down your findings on paper, so you can then transfer it to the tables. As for easier VE table, the 2 bar enhancement will create a standard VE table instead of the VVE.

Cheers ranger! I had no idea that's what the 2 bar did... Why would people want to use it the generic way when you could just use the 2 bar?

I actually can't find anything that actually explains exactly what every upgrade does for every ecu type

As for writing the timing down, I've just had a thought. You could set up a histogram showing the base timing and set it to max values and there you have your adjusted table.

It might not be the base table but which ever PID it is that'll work.
Maybe the commanded minus any adders? I dunno I'll have to have a play

The 2bar used to cost ~$100? to upgrade, now it's free. And I'm not sure the 2bar is supported on all OS's. Mine wasn't originally, but it became avail for it.
