    Learning fords

    I have a question.

Years ago I went to the tunning school and did their learn at home course and have kept it up as it has had some useful relational material.

They do not have a hp tuners for ford but they do have an sct for ford course.

I was wondering if anyone has used sct and hp or had them side by side looking at a ford tune.

My question is if I got the sct for ford course, could I use the info in that course to relate it to hp tuners?

Theory would be the same so it would be more about the flavor of the software if I could relate tags from sct to tags in hp tuners.

I believe Don Lasota has a Ford Tuning book for HP Tuners. Since you are tuning the same system, just with different software viewing the same parameters, it will apply.

I found this earlier today. It's a pretty good read.

Eric, how much of this carries over to the 2011-up cars?

A lot of the basic principles apply.

It's the how much of what that differs along with the cam timing piece. Having factory widebands helps tremendously. You can tune a car on the street almost 100%. The only piece needed for the dyno is the cam stuff.

the principles for ford entry tuning is yes the same, but mapped point and relation to the TiVCT system is a completely new system. Factory widebands are super nice. hope HPT get targeted Lambda and Measured Lambda in the scanner working.

The major differences with the newer cars is the 4D tables, and how the weighting factors work.

Sultan, I will have the scanner going pretty soon. I have been test logging my own car.

Effectively yes. There are multiple tables for things like Spark, MAP Calculation, Torque, and Torque Inverse. The PCM will use a percentage of each table for the final value.

Those are the same as before, and they are just modifiers to the main spark calculation. But there are multiple MBT and borderline tables.

I talked briefly to Don LaSota. Great person to talk to actually. He did say that there are some bigger differences between 05-10 and 11-14. He did say that he is working on an updated guide for 11+ . He is waiting a little on HP to finalize their ford release but is working on a new guide just going to be a little bit.
