Thread: 2011 up fast shifting

    2011 up fast shifting

Any hints how to make shifting fast (not firm)? All people I know that are running tunes loaded from various tuners via SCT are saying that tranny is shifting slow at WOT, but firm. Looks like when going close to redline, it starts prepare to firm shift, so is no more pulling, then shifts hard.
I ordered for friend v6 2013 SCT tune since we can't tune V6 now, and it's this same.
Make 2005 model shift fast and not firm was no problem, but here's look it's not that easy.
He even get's not that good time when firm shifting is enabled vs stock shifting.

Soon I'll try to test in on GT, but some hints if that's possible and how to make it would be good. Here most of cars are v6, so no way to make tests so often...

Here's what I mean, best visible at 0:05-0:06:

With tune or not, looks this transmission drives like crap vs 2005 model, and it's not even close to for eg challenger with nag shifting wchich is virually no lag and nice firm.

    Here's goal, challenger example:

    Thanks.

What i found till this time.
Raising upshift pressures does not make firm shifting at all when tq management is enabled.
When this is enabled, tranny shifts quite fast if sleep times and torque on adaptative tab adjusted.

What is happening when tq management is disabled, i really dont know.
Shift is going to be firm, but then its slower than with tq management enabled.
Like on movie above, like flare just before shift or some strange tq reduction occures, or this tranny is just working so and needs mechanical shift kit.

    Any ideas?

The largest table as far as influencing shift speed is in the adaptive. making changes to the initial/overall slip and torque transfer times is where the speed is at, along with making adjustments in the ramp and shift pressure tables in that same shift properties tab. I have my 15 gt tuned with all torque management disabled and have had to work quite a bit making small tweaks here and there to get it where I want it. I feel like there is still some improvement to be had, but I have managed to get my shift times down from .7-.8 secs to .3-.4, which is a huge improvement. I have upped the shift pressure some, but only in the upper torque values so it shifts firm getting on the throttle but doesn't try to slam into gear just cruising around..

Can you post those tables to compare?
I had them down (all adaptive) for 25 percent and helped bit, maybe i should go more.

I am uploading my stock file and the latest revision of my tune. I would only use this as a guise to change tables, no copy and paste stuff. This is still a work in progress, but may give you an idea of how I am going about tuning mine. Keep in mind this is a nitrous tune, so the engine stuff isn't optimized for N/A performance.

Thanks for posting, looks in adaptive values and shift pressure I made very similar changes. This is 5.0, they have some tables different than v6, but that has no matter.
You changed some tables in boost elements, i didn't, will try there. Also You did many mods to tq converter, but that should not have matter for fast shifting.

I see You still have tq management enabled and that can hide the problem I was asking about.

I tested those settings to day in v6, there are some tables different, but no luck. When it's firm, it's not fast, when it's not firm it's fast.

    Hi

Some of the latest test that drives quite good except wot shifting when tq management is disabled.
With Your tables direct copied just for test (they are bit different in 3.7 vs 5.0) it was same. Firm, but slow as in movie in first post.

See movie here, this is 5r55s, i made it shifting like this. Forget about new tranny to make it so.... for now:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A36KXTOApYY

When HPT was not making 3.7 and 5.0, we had tunes for SCT from Eric, Justin @ VMP and tried some 2 or 3 others, asked several times to make it fast, no luck (movie from first post is one of them, can't remember which). This tunes has 3 or 4 years, so maybe even in SCT was something improoved, but since that time I did not tried.

Now if HPT is doing them i fight with this and looks not good for now.
I have no 5.0 now for test with Your tables, but i dont think it will make tranny such fast as above movie...

when tuning trans, i always do the following:

    trans torque reduction

i keep switch enabled yet have the values around 900 for GT models

also work on sliptime or Targeted slip time for faster shifts

What do the numbers represent in the slip times? Is it hundredths of a second?

yes, with tq switch enabled it works quite good at higher like 900 settings. The closer to disable tq management the slower it shifts. Kind of compromise, i can't get one to shift like 4.6 did, that was fast...
