Smile 1998 C5 Corvette Gear change

    Hi everyone!

Im new to Hptuners and have read online about issues with the 1998 corvette computers getting wiped out by incorrect procedures when changing values on the ECM. So far I understand how to read entire and save the tune as a stock tune file. Now I would like to know step by step what to do to change my gearing from the stock 2.73 to 3.42. Do I open my stock tune and change the value then hit write calibrate? Or do I read entire again and change the value ,save, the hit write calibrate? Ive seen where people have hit write entire and destroy their computer if not changing operating system.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me.

You don't have to change anything on the c5 corvette since the VSS is on the output side of the diff. The only reason you would need to change would be for a tire size change.

If this is an auto, then yes you would need to the shift points. Write cal only will work fine.
