    NGK AFX replacement AFRM

Not sure if this has been posted, but on NGKs website they have the replacement up. The AFRM; http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...m.asp?mode=nml

looks a lot like the AFX, similar harness, different sensor, and different box. range .62-1.37L. Anyone have any extra info on it? Based off of another ECM wideband?

I have used the new sensor with my AFX without any problems, but I have not seen the new unit yet.

If it's not an ECM then it's junk. You better grab up the old NGK AFX as they are still available. ECM will even mod it:

Is there still demand for NOS (new, old stock) AFX's? I might be able to pull something together if there's enough interest...

Greg, actually, there's definitely a demand, and finding the old one, for a decent price, is getting more and more difficult.

I had gotten one of the new NGK units in to look at. Looked very cheap in quality compared to the version it has replaced. Sent it back and got an AFX that our supplier still had in stock. Now all the old ones are gone!

My gen 1 AFX broke and there was no support for it so I had to buy a gen 2.

Already trashed it. ( was a few months ago) I have the new NTK now. I was able to tune fine with the old unit and didn't have it converted? ( not sure what the conversion was for?)

Not sure why people are bagging on the new unit? It doesn't have he face plate the old one had but seems to have the exact same functions and to be honest identical harness.,. range is from 9-20 .5-4.5

I'll start tuning with it tomorrow

any idea what the center wire is for on this unit? my guess is discharge to ground?

I wanted to answer a few questions as we have some answers.

This is correct. A product group in Japan designed the NTK AFRM around an entirely new sensor that has no availability presently. The way the new sensor is made, it *should* be more like a Bosch sensor in environments like leaded fuel. Time will prove this out one way or another.

We have all the parts! The controller, harness, connectors, sensors etc.

Good thing we are offering them again as the Ballenger Motorsports AFR500! The NTK AFRM breaks compatibility with the AFX on sensor, harness, output curve, etc.

We are seeing a lot of gouging on new ones remaining and used ones for sale. There is pent up demand for sure. The AFR500 is offered here: http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...oducts_id/2337
