Thread: VCT angle is in crank degree angle or cam itself angle?

VCT angle is in crank degree angle or cam itself angle?

I have suspect that in one mustang that came to me has timing one tooth misalignment in bank 1.
2nd bank works at idle with 0 cam error correction, but bank 1 has is always 5-8 degree retarded.

I counted tooths, so if there one tooth miss should say 17 degree difference in crank rotation degree,
but about 8 if counted to cam retard itself.

So how scanner and tune shows? Cam degree in cam degree values or cam degree in camshaft degree values?

I bet it's in crank degree values, due if it would be opposite, max retard could be about 120deg in crank degree values, that's lot.

I could not sleep till check, so i advanced cam one tooth on this bank and now its at zero correction. So even its are crank degrees, he shows at idle less than should. As i've seen on old log, higher rpms when he went to zero on bank 2 were about 13-15, so close tu 17. 5-8 deg in this case its one tooth when looking at idle. Now fuel trims are equal.
