Validate Checksum Failed. You will be unable to save or flash this file.

This isn't a bug in the software, and is perfectly normal.

When you read your PCM and then try to open the file with VCM Editor and receive this message here's what you should do:

    1. Email the .hpt file as well as a VCM Suite infolog while connected to the vehicle in question to us at support at hptuners.com
    2. we will review the file for integrety and if the checksums are correct & not disabled, missing or corrupt we will send you an update as soon as possible to fix this issue.
    3. the fix will be included in all future shipped software and updates.

Fixing these issues are #1 when it comes to support so you can be assured that you have our full attention when we receive one of these emails.

This error is most common on Ford, Dodge & GM Alloytech(Bosch) pcm's & usually means its a new operating system we have yet to come across & we need to map the calibration for your use which can take several days or longer depending on the complexity of the operating system.

Thanks for your understanding and patience (we know what it is like to get something new only to have to wait another day to use it).

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Hoping my checksum was caused by SCT. I'll know tonight when I get home. If it was caused by SCT will there be a way to make it work or will I probably have to dump my custom engine tune and start from scratch?

I honestly don't know if I have any stock files, remember these cars are 9-12 years old, most have already been modded in some way and the only files we get are from customers. So to answer your question, probably not.

Bill, I was thinking the same thing and was considering getting a stock reflash from the dealer to make absolutely sure there isn't an old superchips program on my pcm that I didn't know about, perhaps causing my checksum error. May also be the cause of a lot of these checksum errors on the Dodges.

probably not, as stated in the post its normal, we likely just haven't done the def. Its the reason I made this post so people don't keep asking "I got a checksum error what do I do?".

So if the vehicle was flashed with a Superchips hand held we won't be able to read the tune? What if the vehicle is returned to stock?

I can't see why you wouldn't be able to.

What is this "info log" you are looking for? I sent my file this evening and need it returned by the morning if possible.

    Thanks.

Got mine back to me in a couple hours. Thanks Mark

I upload four stock Dodges to the tune repository yesterday .

As a side note, I upload my dodge caliber, but in the drop down menu you didn't have a caliber in it so I uploaded it to the neon drop down, but in comments I added its a caliber calibration
