Thread: 4L80e Input Speed on 4L60e tune

4L80e Input Speed on 4L60e tune

    2005 GTO

I am currently running a 4L80e on my 4L60e tune with the relay to reverse shift solenoid B.

As a result their is no need for the Input speed sensor.

I would like to be able to measure converter slip via the ISS.

If I pin the ISS to the TCM with the 4L60e tune will I be able to log it?

If not has anyone been able to connect the ISS to the HP Tuners MPVI with a custom PID?

If you're going to do that, you need to edit the gear ratios. While you're at it, you may as well modify the bit mask for solenoid assignments, pin it properly, and turn off the 3-2 downshift solenoid along with the TCC enable solenoid. Win win.

It would be great to have a legit 4L80e tune but changing the bit mask is something us end users don't have the ability to do.

Maybe I could just go out and find a factory flashed 4L80e tcm install it and then do a read entire to start with the correct TCM OS.

Sure you can. You just have to request it to be added to your operating system. Gear ratios are something that hasn't been added yet, and I keep forgetting to do some stuff on my end to make it easier for the HPT people to find it.

You are the man!! I have been wanting that for quite some time. I could finally get rid of my relays and fake 3-2 solenoid.
What about the extra solenoid for TCC PWM/TCC Enable that the 4l60e uses?

I could wait for the gear ratios as I have that test disabled but it would defiantly be nice.

support need the file that has those definitions added. I am searching the repository for one now.

Dsteck could you please post a read with that added already.

    Thank You

HPT has been adding so many new tables it is hard to keep up ... which is not a bad thing !

However, there is something not quite right with the explanation / suggestion for the solenoid settings. Attached is a screen shot from a T42 4L80 ... you will notice the conflicting information.

That TCM OS will not communicate with the E40.*

With only B and A solenoids existing, 4 and 0 are the same, and 6 and 2 are the same.

    C-B-A
    0-0-0 (0)
    0-0-1 (1)
    0-1-0 (2)
    0-1-1 (3)
    1-0-0 (4)
    1-0-1 (5)
    1-1-0 (6)
    1-1-1 (7)

The last two of the three bits are all that matter. I imagine the C solenoid only comes into play when using more than four forward gears.

Six, half dozen... 1,0,2,3 and 1,4,6,3 both work for a 4L80.

Does it matter? I know that is an E38 file but they are not swapping the TCM OS over. As far as I know they are just adding the parameters to my TCM OS.

If it is an issue do you have access to an E40/T42 file that has those tables already defined.

Oh, if you're just giving that as an example of one with it mapped, you're fine. I thought you wanted to use that TCM OS with your T42.

OK, Yes just sent that file to support with mine so they know what to add. It seems to have everything the GTO people need to get the 4L80e functioning without the relays and fake solenoids ( not that it doesn't work ) but it would be nice to free up some clutter and have a nice straight forward tune change and I think maybe some wiring changes ( still need to look into that since mine is already changed ). Ill check that once they get the parameters added.

Thank You DSteck for your help.

Subscribing. Doing this swap now and if I can avoid buying the relays and harnesses that would be awesome. 2006 A4 GTO here going to a 4l80 this month

I'd like to use a 2009 Colorado 5.3L 4L60E E67 PCM/T42 tune to run a 4L80E Can this be doe with a pin swap and Hp tuners? How do I get the beta with control for disabling 3-2 downshift, and changing TCC PMW to on/off, and changing gear ratios or turning off I.S.S?

So, back to the original question, any way to use the 4L80E ISS in a 4L60/70E cal?
