I had similar issues today. Sometimes it also complained that it cannot locate VCM and so on. I saw it few times before and it always solved disconnection/connecting
cables. Not today. I investigated whole interface, opened it, checked soldering of connectors, everything was fine. Then I realized, that the DSUB-15 connector is very
loose. It was always, but now it barely holded in place when not screwed. I found that the two nuts, holding connector in panel, and serving as nut for cable screws are
too long and that they are preventing the cable connector to sit as deep as possible. I removed them, connected cable, that was 1-2mm deeper than before and voila,
interface was back alive! Hopefully this helps to someone with similar issue.
